History repeats itself

Robots of Brixton from Kibwe Tavares on Vimeo.
Brixton has degenerated into a disregarded area inhabited by London's new robot workforce - robots built and designed to carry out all of the tasks which humans are no longer inclined to do. The mechanical population of Brixton has rocketed, resulting in unplanned, cheap and quick additions to the skyline.

Watching the video above, the scene near the end caught my eyes; a dissolve back from the robotic world to the Brixton events were the riot police, hiding behind their shields, were fighting the demonstrators of the local African-Caribbean community who were suffering high unemployment, low wages, poor housing, and had access to very few amenities. It just reminded me of the recent events in Tahrir square at the 27-28th of last June were the same riot police, hiding behind their shields, were fighting the same people suffering from the same issues .

The people from the barrio built the city twice: during the day we built the houses of the well-off. At night and at weekends, with solidarity, we built our own homes, our barrio.
